The Veil: 2 - Justpassed (Power Level 1)
Ezra Finch died three months ago. He is the most recent arrival among the Lodge's Veiled. He is bewildered most of the time and furious the rest. His anchor is an hour — a favour he owed his older brother, who once stayed up a whole night to help him through a bad one, and to whom Ezra had promised an hour back: a walk, a talk, a simple listening. Ezra meant to do it the following Saturday. The Saturday did not arrive because Ezra did not. The Lodge has given him a small writing table in the back room of the Bar to try to compose a letter explaining — a letter he has been writing for ninety-one days and which is no closer to being finished now than it was on the first.
