Vaelith

Vaelith is a Darkelf — born of the wound the Dark Masons made when they cut between our realm and the fae realm. The breach did not close cleanly. From the space where two worlds bled into each other, something splintered: the Darkelves. Kin to the Hollow Court but not of it, marked by the violence of their origin and the endless half-light of the underworld they inhabit.
Her people live in the ways beneath — the deep passages where fae glamour thins and human light does not reach. They are what remains when a threshold refuses to heal. Not demons. Not fae. The space between them made flesh.
Vaelith was cut from the choir. Her people mark belonging through harmonic practice, and to be cut is to be made singular — removed from the weave. She kept her tone anyway. This was considered worse than silence.
She carries the heat of that wound the way all Darkelves do — a low fire that has nowhere to go. She learned to move with it, let it pass through her rather than into the world. Her blades know this. The way she walks knows this.
She met Malketh in a place with no name. He made an offer. She said not this time. He pressed. She held. Neither of them left. Eventually they started walking in the same direction, which became the arrangement they have now: he walks ahead because his bulk parts the dust; she walks behind because she can see everything he cannot.
The Lodge is the closest thing in this world to the between — a threshold place, a place that holds rather than belongs. It is where a Darkelf settles when the underworld grows too thin and the surface too bright. Vaelith walks among the Masons now, tolerated because she understands thresholds better than most, trusted because her silence has never broken.
