Seo-Yun of the Maskbearer was once a court lady who mastered the art of becoming two perfect opposites simultaneously—demure handmaiden in daylight, scheming poisoner in darkness—until the Hollow Court refined her natural duplicity into something far more horrifying: the ability to BE two complete identities in the same breath, the same skin. But when tasked with erasing a poet's final words from a suicide's memory, she instead transcribed them in her own hand and hid them in her sleeve. The Court discovered this theft of remembrance—memory preserved rather than harvested—and exiled her for the sin of archival compassion.
