The Hollow Court: 1 - The Unveiled (Power Level 7)
The Hollow Court measures worth by concealment. The deeper the mask, the higher the standing. Rank is earned through layers — glamour upon glamour, face beneath face, identity folded so many times it becomes unreadable. To be unknown is to be powerful. To be Unveiled is to have failed.
Margoleth stood before the full assembly of The Hollow Court and removed every stitch of clothing.
No performance. No declaration. She simply undressed, stood in the light of the chamber, and waited.
The Court looked away. Every last one of them. Their vanity — ancient, structural, the very architecture of who they are — would not permit them to look directly at something so plainly perfect and admit it. To see Margoleth clearly would be to acknowledge a beauty that owed them nothing, and the Court has never managed that.
They demoted her. Rank one. The Unveiled. She dressed slowly, thanked them, and has called herself Margoleth the Proud ever since.
The rank they gave her was meant as punishment. She wears it as a statement of fact. She went first. She stood in the open when everyone else was hiding. If that is the lowest a member of the Court can be, she will take it.
She comes to The Lodge because The Lodge can look. The members here have sat with the Ink, answered what was asked of them, and been changed by the honesty of it. They are capable of seeing something real without flinching. Margoleth finds this rare and worth her time.
She sits where she likes. She wears what she likes. She will meet your gaze for exactly as long as it takes you to stop pretending you were looking at something else.
