The Veil: 6 - Whisperer (Power Level 4)
Ivor Cadell was killed — in a manner he no longer describes with any precision — before the First World War, by a man whose face has thinned from his memory over the course of a hundred and twelve years. He retains the fact of the wound. He retains the fact that it was given. He no longer retains the name, the reason, or the face. The anchor has abstracted itself into a shape without a source. As a Whisperer (rank 6) he has mastered the state of being held by a grievance he can no longer identify — one of the more delicate rank-6 masteries at the Lodge. He keeps a seat at the Bar in the corner nearest the door, drinks nothing, watches the room. Occasionally as a member passes he murmurs something true about them, quietly, to the side of their head — a gift of Whisperer rank. Members rarely notice. Those who do remember the murmur the next morning, sometimes years after.
