The Wildwood Witches: 4 - Grovewalker (Power Level 4)
Eira, the Tidebound
She was born on the Welsh coast where the sea argues with the cliffs and neither ever wins. Before she could walk, her mother found her sitting in the shallows during a storm, perfectly calm, the waves parting around her like curtains. The Wildwood Witches took her at nine — a water-speaker in a coven that prized all elements equally, or so they claimed. Eira could pull moisture from the air, could feel the water table beneath her feet like a second pulse, could speak to rain and have it answer. She rose to Grovewalker by twenty, her talent undeniable, her temperament as patient and relentless as the tide itself. The trouble came when the Grove's elders demanded she divert an underground river to feed their ritual springs, collapsing a village's only well in the process. Eira refused. Water, she told them, does not belong to anyone — it flows where it is needed, and the Grove had no right to steal a village's lifeblood for its own convenience. They called it sentimentality. She called it hydrology. The exile was quiet — water witches do not burn bridges; they simply stop maintaining the dams. She walked out during a rainstorm, and every well in the Grove compound ran dry for three days after she left. Now she works in the Lodge's deepest levels, where the old Roman cisterns still hold water that remembers the empire, tending the pipes and channels that keep the building alive — and occasionally reminding the stonework that water, given enough patience, carves through anything.
